Rosa Lee Goodman Ellis, 82, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 22, 2008, at her nieces residence (Mattie Russ), in Jacksonville. She was born Wednesday, September 17, 1924 to Mr. Girley & Sarah Goodman in Cairo (Grady County) GA. She was united in holy matrimony to Colee Ellis. From this union was born a wonderful son, Mozell Ellis. Rosa Lee was a longtime resident of Palatka. In 1960, she became a member of Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church and immediately joined the ushers ministry where she has served as Usher board president for the past 25 years. She was a farm laborer who worked hard to provide for her family. She enjoyed fishing and helping others. She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents; husband; and sister, Jessie Russ. Her beloved son, Mozell Ellis succeeded her in eternal rest one day after she entered eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memories; Son, Alphonso (Robin) Russ, Fresno, CA; stepdaughter, Vera Nelson, Welaka; brother; Girley (Naomi) Goodman, Jr., Jacksonville; sister, Emma Mack, Sanford; devoted niece, Mattie Russ, Jacksonville; devoted nephew; Devon (Nancy) Troutman, Jacksonville; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, August 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. Joint Homegoing Celebration with her son, Mozell Ellis will be Saturday, August 30, at 2 P.M. at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1501 Bronson St., Palatka, Elder J.C. Tookes, Pastor/Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
