Obituary

Rosa Lee (Bradley) Edwards, 80, of East Palatka entered into eternal rest beginning everlasting life on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Forest Lake Manor in Daytona Beach, Florida following an extended illness.

A native of Pomona Park, Rosa Lee was born February 8, 1930, to Francis and Bertha (Hamilton) Bradley and has resided in East Palatka since 1961. She was educated in the public schools of Putnam County. At an early age, Rosa Lee became a member of the Mt. Tamo Baptist Church in Pomona Park, where she served as a Deaconess. Upon moving to East Palatka, she joined the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. C. Hicks, and subsequently served under Rev. John T. Haymon where she served on the Deaconess Board, the Beautification Committee, and sang in the choir. She was an excellent cook and worked in several restaurants in the Putnam County region where her specialty included baking homemade biscuits and cakes.

Rosa Lee is preceded in eternal rest in addition to her parents; her beloved husband, Harrison Edwards, Jr., two sisters, Ethel Mae Miller and Bernice Bradley; two brothers, Willie George and Francis Bradley. Rosa leaves to cherish her precious memories: devoted son, Harrison Edwards, III (Marion), Palatka; loving daughter, Gwendolyn Edwards Barrs (Darryl), Ormond Beach; brother, Joseph Bradley, San Pedro, CA; Sisters-in-law and Brother-n-law, Georgia Mae McDonald, Pomona Park; Edna Edwards, San Mateo; Thelma Mills, Welaka; Marty Mae Edwards, Green Cove Springs; Otis McBride Jr. (Esther), San Mateo; 12 Grandchildren: Dominique Danielle Barrs, Tampa; Darryl A. Barrs, Jr. (Ronesia), Daytona Beach; Heather N. Edwards, Jacksonville; Yolanda S. Edwards, Jacksonville; Altrese Welder (Ray), Washington D.C.; Michelle Major (Terry), Jacksonville; James Cooper (Sharon), Palatka; Sabrina Francis, Orange Park; Mark Hopkins, Jacksonville; Harrison Edwards (Kim), Palatka; Steven Edwards (Quiana), Jacksonville; Tiffany Edwards (Gip), Orange Park; 25 Great-grand children; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews; 2 goddaughters, Ardrene Wesley, Hastings and Erica Calhoun Douge, Palatka.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday (Today) at New Mt Tamo Baptist Church, 33 South Railroad Ave, Pomona Park. On Saturday, visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at the Chapel of Serenity and from 12 noon until the Homegoing Celebration commences 2 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church, 100 5th Street, East Palatka, Rev. Maurice Lloyd, Pastor. Her son-in-law, Rev. Darryl A. Barrs, Sr., is the eulogist.

Interment will be in the Mt. Tamo Baptist Cemetery, Pomona Park. The cortege will assemble at 2400 Madison Street at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.
