Obituary

Rosa Elizabeth Cook, 80, of Seville entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Florida Hospital Memorial Hospice Care, Daytona Beach following an extended illness. A native of Talbotton (Talbot County), GA., she was daughter of Charlie and Alice Willis born on Thursday, April 21, 1932. Rosa was educated in the Talbot County School system (Salem School). She was united in holy matrimony to Roy S. Cook on October 2, 1948 and in 1950 they relocated to Seville. The Cooks' were the owners/operators of Cook's Fernery and became the proud parents of eight children. Mother Cook was a longtime member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Seville Community Prayer band, former officer of Union #2 - St. John River Baptist Association and the Sunday School Convention. She was known for her fantastic soul-food cooking, providing a safe haven, listening ear and her words of wisdom. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughters, Miriam Cook and Deborah Cook; granddaughter, Angela McDonald; brothers, Preston Willis, J.B. Willis, sisters, Bertha Holloway and Mabel Terry. Those who cherish her memories: devoted sons and daughters, Vivian McDonald, Hope Mills, NC; James (Belinda) Cook, Sarasota; Wayne Cook, Seville; Stanley (Rosetta) Cook, Crescent City; Darlene Cook, South Daytona; Valerie (Ricky) Rhodes, Sylvania, GA; loving sisters, Mildred Walton, Waverly Hall, GA., Annie Lois (Ernest) Copeland, Hamilton, GA; Mary McPherson, Fayetteville, NC; 30 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 23, at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, 1835 Barton Street, Seville. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 24 at True Foundation Ministries, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, Rev. Gwendolyn George, Pastor. Pastor James Vickers, of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Seville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Seville.
