SMSgt Ronnie Chester Gordon (USAF retired), 65, of Warner Robins, GA., began his journey to his Heavenly home, surrounded by his loving wife, "Candy" and devoted son, Ca'Ron, on Monday, July 22, 2013 from his earthly home. A native of Palatka, he was born on Friday, August 29, 1947 to Samuel and Alice McMillan Gordon. He was a 1965 graduate of Central Academy High School, Palatka. He was united in Holy matrimony to the former Candice Turner and they became the proud parents of one son, Ca'Ron Gordon. SMSgt Gordon earned numerous medals, ribbons and citations including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle. SMSgt Gordon did two tours in Vietnam and also was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm/Calm. SMSgt Gordon was honorably discharged in 1995 from the Air Force with over three decades of military service. Following retirement, Ronnie continued to work as a contractor in his chosen field of electronics in the commercial sector of the government. Ronnie's journey was preceded by his loving father, Samuel Gordon, and his devoted brother, Major Fredrick Gordon (USAF retired, who transitioned on August 16, 2012.) He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Candice Turner Gordon and his loving son, Ca'Ron Gordon of Warner Robins, GA. He was the devoted son of Alice McMillan Gordon, Palatka; caring brother of Ollie Nichols, Alberta Gordon, Lillie Williams, Sam Gordon, Allen Gordon, and Tom Gordon. He will be missed by his very special lifelong friend, since childhood, Jackie Williams. His memories will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous special friends. Visitation of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, and the Celebration of Ronnie's Life will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." His High School classmate, Reverend Frankie L. McClendon, Sr., of Trinity United Missionary Baptist Church, Johnson, is the eulogist. Interment with full military honors will be conducted by the 23rd Wing Honor Guard, Moody AFB, GA., at 2 p.m., Monday in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
