Elder Ronald "Ronnie" Alphonso Williams, 63, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he was the son of Ezell Williams and Rosa Williams, born on Friday, July 13, 1956. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and a 1974 graduate of Palatka South High School. After graduation, "Ronnie" as he was affectionately known, enlisted in the United States Army and completed boot camp at Fort Jackson, SC in August of 1974 then returned home. In 1987, Ronald received Jesus as his Savior and embraced salvation and the Holy Ghost. He was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ by Central Florida Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop C. D. Kinsey. Elder Williams served faithfully at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the pastoral leadership of Superintendent Emeritus, Pastor Johnnie Shaw in numerous ministries including, Adult Men Sunday School teacher, local and District Evangelist, and the praise team. He sang duets with his brother, Elder Robert Williams, sang in the local church Pentecostal COGIC choir and the Palatka District COGIC Choir of Central Florida #1. Under the present leadership of Pastor Earl Matthews, he served as Executive Assistant to the pastor and he served the Lord's church wherever his hands found work. "Ronnie" was preceded in eternal rest by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories: loving and caring son, Minister David L. (Missionary Sharita) Williams, granddaughters, who affectionally called him "Pop Pop", Daria, Saria, Diavian, and Savannah Williams; devoted brother, Elder Robert (Missionary Vernessa) Williams, Sr.; brothers, Tom (Lisa) Youman, Ezell Williams, Jr., Vincent Williams; sisters, Pam Youman, Lorraine (Tony) Brown, Judy Williams, and Wanda Youman; uncle, Jimmy C. (Dorothy) Williams, San Diego, CA; devoted nieces and nephews Minister Jeff (Maggie) Williams, Robyn Williams, Debra (Minister Chris) Scott, Melissa Williams, Robert Williams Jr.; special family, Lynn Greene, Earline Walker, Supt. H. Wayne (Missionary Vickie) Colbert, Sr., and family; devoted friends, James (Stephanie) Parker, Pastor Errol (Brenda) Menendez, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks) a limited, socially-distanced visitation of family and friends will be on Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 10 – 11:30 a.m., with Homegoing Celebration commencing at 12 noon at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 North 9th Street, Palatka, Pastor Earl Matthews, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery. The family respectfully request in lieu of flowers, please make a Memorial Contribution in loving memory of Elder Ronald Williams to a charity of your choice
