Ronald Eugene "Sweat" Sweat, 57, native and lifelong resident of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his residence. The son of Arthur E. and Thelma L. (Coakley) Sweat, Sr., he was born on Wednesday, April 27, 1960. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1978 Palatka High School graduate. "Sweat" as he was affectionately known was a former maintenance employee with Palatka Housing Authority. He enjoyed going to church, and over the years he affiliated with Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, and was currently a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. "Sweat" was a handyman who enjoyed doing odd jobs.
In addition to his mother, Ronald was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Sally Coakley; paternal grandparents, L.B. and Anita Bryant.
He leaves to cherish his memories: father, Arthur Edward Sweat, Sr.; brother, Arthur Edward Sweat, Jr.; sisters, Cassandra Laverne (Retired SGM Odell, Jr.) Ford, Katrina Yvette Sweat; Callisa Lanita (Jermaine) Muse; aunts, Sylvia E. (Derrell) Major, Verbena Bryant, Michael Debose, Faye (Robert) Council; god-sisters, Linda (Frederick) Copeland, Mary (William) Thomas, Vernesia (Verson) Lane, Regina (Fred) Carter, Teresa Batts, SGM Michelle (Larry) Session; god-brothers, Stephen (Mary) Williams, Samuel Williams, Maurice (Evelyn) Barnar; former wife, Graceda Hayens; "like a father," Freddie Tilly; those who gave Sweat a "mother's love," Ethel Mae Rivers & Family, Annette Williams & Family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, is the eulogist.
