Ronald E. Bill Parker Jr., 84, of Fort McCoy, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, March 30 at his daughter Kristies residence following an extended illness.
Ronald was a native of Camaguey, Cuba born Saturday, January 2, 1926 to Mr. & Mrs. Ronald E. (Juanita Rodriquez) Parker Sr., and at the age of seven his family moved to Jacksonville. He was of the Episcopal faith and formerly attended Catholic Mass. Bill enlisted into the U.S. Navy on December 27, 1943 and served our nation proudly during World War II. He earned numerous commendations including the American Area Campaign and the World War II Victory Medals as well as the Aircrew Insignia and he held the ARM3C rating. Bill was a retired supervisor with Houdallie Road Construction Company where he was employed for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and Kappa Sigma Sigma Fraternity.
Bill was preceded in eternal rest by his parents; wife, Christine Howell Parker; son, Ronald Parker, and daughters, Faye Parker and Charlene Brinkman.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Daughters, Sherry Anderson, Jacksonville; Kristie A. (Jim) Bennett, Green Cove Springs; Mari-Beth Brunson, Jacksonville; Sister, Patricia OBrian, New Smyrna Beach; 5 grandchildren, Bobby Victor (Jessica) Freeman, Christina F. Evans, Ross E. Brinkman, Olivia C. Brinkman and Robert Chris Barron and a host other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Celebration to honor Bills legacy will be held 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 19th, at the Bostwick Community Center, 125 Tillman Street, Bostwick. Chaplain Tom Miller, of Haven Hospice, is officiating.
