Ronald Roy
Dockham
September 5, 1942 – July 2, 2011
U.S. Army E-6 Ronald Roy Dockham, 68, of Georgetown entered the sunset of life on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at his residence. A native of Columbiaville, Michigan, he was the son of Roy and Elizabeth (Glassford) Dockham born on Saturday, September 5, 1942. He was a graduate of Adelphian Academy in Holly, Michigan. He was subsequently inducted into the U.S. Army on July 12, 1961 and served as a medical specialist and hospital attendant at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Ronald also served in the 8th Med Co, APO 164, Seventh Army at Smiley Barracks, Karlsruhe, Germany and the Med Co MEDDAC at Ft. Riley Kansas until honorably discharged on August 6, 1970. Among the honors he earned includes the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Vietnam Campaign Medal and Meritorious Unit Citation. He was employed by the Sumter Correctional Institution and subsequently the Sumter County Sheriffs Department in Bushnell, FL. On April 14, 1989, Deputy Sheriff Dockham was wounded in the line of duty and was medically retired. He was a Seventh Day Adventist. Ronald enjoyed fishing and was an avid motorcyclist. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Honda Goldwing Riders Association. Ronald is preceded in eternal rest by his parents and brother James E. Dockham. To cherish his memories: brother, Richard Carl (Karena) Dockham, Davison, MI; 2 sisters, Shirley Dockham, Bradenton; Carol (Thomas) Burns, Holland, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. No formal services are planned. Interment will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
