Obituary

Ronald Curtis "Ronnie" Blackshear, 67, of Interlachen, peacefully entered the sunset of life on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at AdventHealth Celebration, Kissimmee.  A native of Savannah, GA, he was the son of William Henry Blackshear and Wilhelmina Mitchell, born on Saturday, December 18, 1954.  He was educated in the Chatham County, GA School District and a 1973 graduate of Beech High School. Ronnie enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal before earning an honorable discharge.

"Ronnie" accepted Christ at an early age at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Savannah, GA under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Boles. He was most recently a member of Grove Park Community Christian Church, Hawthorne and a former member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka. "Ronnie" retired after 16 years with Putnam County Public Works Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was formerly employed by Georgia-Pacific and Waste Pro. He loved to watch wrestling, old westerns, Sci-Fi and Biblical movies. He also enjoyed drawing and playing basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his four siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 40 years, Debra Lynn Haynes Blackshear; children, Lacresia Lee, Jacksonville; Terrance (Leaner) Haynes, Interlachen; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother,  James (Barbara) Brown; sister, Sylvia Mae Lanier, Savannah, GA; cousins who were more like siblings, Alfred Blackshear, Jessie Blackshear, Elsie Hines, Pat Mason; all of Savannah, GA; uncle, Reverend Frank (Ella) Blackshear, Savannah, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vivian (Cleveland) Tinker, Gainesville; Philip (Dedra) Cason, Raleigh, NC; Olivia (Christopher) Jones, Jacksonville; Kathy (James Frank, Jr.) Wright, Freddie Taylor, Palatka; Teresa Myers, Port St. Lucie; Linda (Veron) McKnight, Bakersfield, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, April 9; Celebration of Ronnie's Life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Tony Hall, pastor of Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
