Obituary

Robin Deanna Detwyler, 58, of Green Cove Springs, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital.

Robin Deanna Holder, the daughter of Sonja Holder and Neal Jones, she was born on April 29, 1966, at Clay Memorial Hospital in Green Cove Springs. She was the cherished granddaughter of maternal grandparents Lee Hazel Holder and Charles Holder, and paternal grandparents Martha Jones and Johnnie Jones.

Robin grew up in Green Cove Springs and graduated from Clay High School in 1984. She then attended Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Florida, and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2010. In 1993, she married her former spouse Kenneth Detwyler, and together they had one son, Kenneth Jr.

Robin accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. She was raised attending First African Missionary Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, where she worshiped through her early adult years. She later became a member of Bible Believers Christian Fellowship before settling at St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. C.E. Preston. Over her 18 years of faithful membership at St. John, Robin served in various roles, including Co-chairperson of New Member Orientation, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Women's Ministry, Women's Choir, and the Mass Choir. She remained active in ministry for as long as her health allowed.

Robin started her professional career at American Express before spending 17 years at Comcast, where she became affectionately known around town as the "Cable Lady" and held the position of office team lead. In 2014, she sought new challenges and joined the team at Ally Financial, where she most recently held the position of Loan Contract Processor, putting her education and experience to great use.

In 2011, Robin fulfilled a longtime goal by joining the sisterhood of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She was a dedicated member of the Beta Alpha Psi Zeta chapter in St. Augustine, FL, serving as the chapter's 2nd Anti-Basileus (Vice President). Robin loved spending time outdoors, traveling, shopping, and trying new experiences. Above all, she cherished her family and friends and made the most of every moment she could share with them.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and uncles Curtis Holder and Bruce (Linda) Holder.

To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her beloved son, Kenneth Perez Detwyler, Jr.; aunt, Dr. Loretta Howard; uncles, Connie Holder, Leon (Wendy) Holder, and Michael Holder. She is also survived by her brothers, Neal Jones Jr., Byron Parks, and Eric Frazier; sisters, Denise (Willie) Jones-Thomas, Erica Kirkland, and Laura Blue; nieces Sonja Davis, Leila Parks, Morgan Parks, Leah Winchester, Emira Frazier, and Yvonne Marguerite McKinney. Additionally, Robin is remembered by her godmothers, Carolyn Clarkson and Faye Rivers, as well as her family-in-love: Miesha Coleman, Brandon Troutman, Viola Detwyler, and Kim Jackson.  She also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends who were loved dearly.
