Robert Cleveland Session, 77, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Vincent's Medical Center-Southside in Jacksonville. A native of Putnam County (Sun Garden), he was the son of Samuel and Maybell Session born on Saturday, February 24, 1941. Due to the family's seasonal work schedule, he was educated in the St. Johns County, FL and NY School District, respectively. Robert met the love of his life, Fannie Perry and they were united in Holy Matrimony on October 20, 1972. Robert was a loving, devoted family man who adored his wife and children.
He was an industrious man who spent years of employment at Tally's Box Company and in the pulpwood industry. Robert retired as a crane operator with Georgia-Pacific following 34+ years of honorable employment. He was a very talented craftsman who earned numerous awards and certifications for exemplary service in welding, crane safety, firefighting, and handling of hazardous material. In 2003, Robert was baptized and united with Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board and in the Choir Ministry. He enjoyed fishing, welding, fellowshipping, softball, and watching westerns. Robert was an avid sports fan, especially the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida Gators.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in eternal rest by his daughter, Martha M. King; brothers, Sam Sr., Johnnie B., Lloyd, Leroy, Billy, and Anthony Session; "like a son," Stanley J. Cooper, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of 46 years, Fannie Session, Palatka; children, Earline Session, Ft. Lauderdale; Rita Applin and Murphy Applin, both of Philadelphia, PA., Tyrone Harris, Daytona Beach; Robert Session, Jacksonville; Timmy Session, Palatka; Crystal (Danny) Williams, Winston Salem, NC; "like a son," Larry L. (Michelle) Session, Palatka; sister, Betty Session, Palatka; brothers, Izell (Jean) Session, Elijah (Karen) Session, both of East Palatka; Johnson (Linda) Session, Sr., Palatka; sisters-in-law, Cora Session, Jacksonville; Rita Session, Connie Session, Jannie Edwards, Barbara Woods, and Cynthia (Albert) Blue, all of Palatka, Lillian Powell, Ft. Myers; Alice Hightower, Brunswick, GA., LaTonya Perry, Jacksonville; brothers-in-law: Andrew Perry, Willie C. Perry, Lawrence Perry, and Cornelious Perry, all of Ft. Myers; Lee Perry Jr., Jacksonville; Vance "Sam" Perry, Brunswick, GA; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; goddaughter, Deshunitra L. Beauford, East Palatka, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and classmates.
Visitation of Family and Friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 18, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka, Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, Pastor, is the eulogist. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 19, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Interment will be in the Oak Hill West Cemetery.
