Robert Lee Howard, 68, of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at UF Health, Jacksonville. The son of Sammie and Queen Ester (Gore) Howard, he was born on May 21, 1951. He was raised in Gainesville, educated in the Alachua County School District and a graduate of Mebane High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on June 3, 1970 and as a Water Supply Specialist, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, earned Sharpshooter M16 and Expert M14, while serving during the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed as an engineer and utility worker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Essie Mae Thompson and Mary Delifus; aunts and uncles, Lucille Donaldson, Mary Singleton, Effie Lee Flagg-Smith, Dorcas Gore, John Henry Leggett, Alphonso Gore, and Lawrence "Jim" Williams.
At the age of 68, Robert Howard's footprints ceased to remain in the sands of time at 1038 a.m., on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at UF Health in Jacksonville, FL.
To cherish his memories: 3 daughters , Emilee Tyler, Rebecca Tyler, and Kandy Tyler; 6 grandchildren, Deonte, Teveon, Jamonee, Jeremiah, Jalen, and Edward; brother, Samuel (Cynthia) Howard; 3 sisters, Gail Jean Sanders, Patricia Eunice, and Joyce Howard Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 9 a.m. – 12 Noon, on Saturday, November 16, at the Chapel of James Graham Mortuary, 3631 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville. Graveside Services with the U.S. Army conducting Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Reverend Geraldine H. Singleton and Reverend Karl N. Flagg, officiating.
