Robert John Bob Edwards, 78, of Satsuma, was transferred to post everlasting on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at his residence. The son of Clarence & Elsie (Mitchell) Edwards, he was born December 27, 1932 in Washington, D.C. Robert was of the Lutheran Faith. He was educated in the Baltimore County Maryland School District, graduating from Kenwood High School and subsequently joined the U.S. Navy. He attended Bainbridge Medical School in Port Deposit, MD., and transferred as a corpsman to the U. S. Marines during the Korean War, achieving the rank of HM3 with numerous commendations. Following his military service, he was employed by Bendix Aerospace; Martin-Marietta where he fabricated airplane components; mold maker at Black & Decker; and later taught baseball classes for the Baltimore County Department of Recreation. He was dedicated to the American Legion on the County, District, State and National levels and served as a chaplain. Following the demise of his first wife, he met and married the former Ruth Josephine Bowers in 1985. Bob & Ruth found joy in donating to numerous charities and people in need. In 2004, they relocated to Satsuma, Florida. In March, 2008, Bob transferred to the American Legion, Post #45 in Palatka and was elected as 2nd Vice Commander. He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife, Ruth Josephine Edwards, Satsuma; Son: Dana Ray Edwards, York, PA; Daughter, Robin Lynn Bowman, Westminster, MD; Stepson, Martin Hilbert Rickell, Jr., Gettysburg, PA; Stepdaughter, Darlene Annette Bowers; Two Sisters: Doris (John) Resh, Palm Coast, Betty Smuck, Fountain Inn, SC; 10 Grandchildren: 6 Great-Grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service in Roberts honor will be held at the American Legion Post 45, Palatka at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children & youth programs at American Legion Post #45 in memory of Robert Bob Edwards.
