Pastor Robert Earl Baker, 65, Jacksonville, answered his Masters call to enter eternal rest Monday, July 7, at St. Vincents Medical Center. A native of East Palatka (Orange Mills), he was the son of Robert Glenn Sr. and Bertha Lee (Williams) Baker, born Oct. 5, 1942. He was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy). He was a masonry contractor and he owned and operated Robert Bakers Concrete Service for more than 23 years. In 1984, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries and served as an elder and in numerous ministries. In 1997, he was affiliated with Truth for Living Ministries in Jacksonville and served as an elder and an armor-bearer. In 2001, he began serving as devoted elder/pastor of Dimension of Praise Ministry along with his soul mate and wife of 22 years, Dr. Carol D. Baker, senior pastor. His hobbies include studying the Bible; fishing and filling everyone around him with laughter. To cherish his memories, beloved wife, Pastor Dr. Carol D. Baker, Jacksonville; children, Stephanie Johnson, Atlanta, Antoinette (Randy) Hills, East Palatka, Roshunta Baker, Tampa, Kimberly (Anthony) Mwereru, California, Britney Baker, Jacksonville, Tenkia Fowler, Palatka, Kenneth Baker, Hawthorne, Craig Baker, Tampa, Gregory Baker, Palatka, John Baker, San Mateo, Tyrell Arnold, Jacksonville, Rory (Temika) Beauford, Tampa, Marvin (Nashanda) Fowler, Palatka; 21 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bishop Robert Lee (Ona) Baker, Elder Dorothy (James) Montgomery, Elouise Thomas, Elizabeth (Mark) Johns, all of Palatka, Robert (Kimberly) Glenn Jr., Delaware; and a host of aunts, uncles, mother-in-law, Dr. Cora B. Fells, Palatka; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Larry (Irene) Lewis, Norfolk, Va.; grand mother-in-law, Mother Doretha Jenkins, Palatka; a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a victory celebration commencing at 6 p.m. at Dimension of Praise Ministry, 592 Ellis Road, Suite No. 112, Jacksonville. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. His wife, Dr. Carol D. Baker, senior pastor of Dimension of Praise Ministry, and mother-in-law Dr. Cora B. Fells, pastor and overseer of Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, are officiating. Interment will be in Pattersonville Cemetery, East Palatka.
