Minister Richard Cook, Sr., 86, a native and lifelong resident of Georgetown, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Palm Garden Health & Rehabilitation Center, Gainesville. As one of thirteen children, Richard was born on Friday, June 22, 1928 to Henry and Edith (Little) Cook, Sr., and was educated in the Putnam County School District. On August 7, 1959, he united in marriage to Julia Mae Jones, and they became the parents of twelve children. Richard was a hard-working family man who loved God, his family and his church. He was an established foreman for many years at Manley Flowers Groves in Seville. Upon his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1977, he became a dedicated member and faithful servant at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, Crescent City. As an ordained minister of the Gospel, Minister Cook had a special love for the Holy Bible and diligently studied the scriptures. Minister Cook illustrated an unwavering commitment to prayer and seized every opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ. He would pray with anyone during their time of need. His greatest wish was for his children to know how much he loved them and for them to become productive citizens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his loving wife of 40 years, Julia Mae Cook; daughter, Shirley Cook; and son, Gregory Cook. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: sons & daughters, Richard Cook, Jr., Georgetown; Sharon Cook, Gainesville; Charles Cook, Crescent City; Sheila Wyatt, Pembroke Pines; Pamelia Tillmon, Plano, TX; Sandra Rolle, Covington, GA; Rodney Cook, St. Augustine; Michael Cook, Chesapeake, VA; Sara Roberts, Ormond Beach; and Kevin Cook, Palatka; 25 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
