Reginald "Reggie" Floyd Wilkerson, 67, of Jacksonville, (formerly Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Friday, May 24, 2024, at his residence. The son of Willie F. and Lillie B. Wilkerson, he was born on Monday, October 15, 1956 in Palatka, Florida. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated from Palatka Central High School in 1974. He pursued higher education at St. Johns River State College (formerly SJRJC) and Bethune-Cookman University. Reggie was a member of Bethlehem and sang in the Bethlehem Baptist Church choir. He earned his respiratory therapist certification at Daytona Beach Community College. He was employed by Putnam Community Hospital (Palatka), Bert Fish Memorial Hospital (New Smyrna Beach) and Schneider Regional Medical Center (St. Thomas, VI) for many years as a Respiratory Therapist and retired in 2015.
Throughout his life, Reggie enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling, fishing, playing musical instruments and spending quality time with his family and friends. Reggie was a standout Pitcher in high school and was drafted by the San Diego Padres during his first year at SJRJC (although he turned down the offer hoping to build his stock the following year). He was an outstanding softball player, playing many years with the Simmon's A's and C-Hawks where they represented Palatka nationwide and won innumerable tournaments and city championships. He moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where he represented the Caribbean's in Baseball and Bowling nationally. Reggie was a member of the Palatka Central and South Class of '74 and The Men of Booker Park. He valued relationships deeply and fostered connections with family, classmates from high school and college, and the communities in which he lived.
Reggie was preceded in eternal rest by his father, Willie F. Wilkerson, Sr.; grandmothers, Dora M. Speights, Emma Barwick; paternal grandfather, Roni Wilkerson; maternal grandfather, Willie Owens; sister, Chelethia Wynae Wilkerson; brother, Timothy Wilkerson.

"TJ" Wilkerson; daughters, Rienda Wilkerson (Lawrance) Wyche, Rashae (Malik Williams, Sr.) Wilkerson; mother, Lillie B. Wilkerson, Palatka; bonus son and daughters, Tim Sheffield, Deshedra T. Gilmore, Roschelle Ross; brothers, Willie F. (Sheryle) Wilkerson, Jr., Tampa; Jerome D. (Dora) Wilkerson, St. Augustine; Eric Wilkerson, Tampa; Reco (LaTreasia) Wilkerson, Atlanta; Pete (Victoria) Cardenas, Hawaii; sister, Diane Wilkerson (James) Williams, Atlanta; grandchildren, Tavien Wilkerson, Jaila Rouse, Kendra Rouse, Zion Wilkerson, Avyion Woodard, Lamiyah Thomas, Zaely Thomas, Ace Thomas, Malik Williams Jr.; loving great nephew, Daunte Wilkerson; great niece, LaTrecia Wilkerson; godfather, John Alexander; godsisters, April Alexander, Allisen Alexander, Phyllis Watson; aunts and uncles, Lucretia Rodriguez, Ruth McCauley, Willie Fred Sanders; special cousin, April Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 14 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka. Celebration of Reggie's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15 at Palatka High School, 302 Mellon Road. Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiating.
