IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rayburn M.
Snyder
June 27, 1949 – June 21, 2021
Rayburn Michael "Ray" Snyder, 71, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his residence. A native of Bedford, PA, he was the son of Scott and Marie Snyder, born on Monday, June 27, 1949. He was educated in the Bedford County PA School system. "Ray" spent many summers working in the family's Crescent City packing house and citrus orchards that Scott Snyder had co-purchased in 1944, known as the Snyder-Mew Company, Inc. The family provided jobs for countless people who lived in the Crescent City area. Following high school, "Ray," enlisted into the U. S. Army. Sgt. Snyder served during the Vietnam era and earned an honorable discharge. Following his military service, "Ray" was employed as a welder at the U. S. Naval shipyards in Tampa, FL until retirement. He subsequently returned to Crescent City to reside on the family's property on Dunkle-Scott Road. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #45, Loyal Order of Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, respectively.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in eternal rest by his surrogate parents, George and Myra Cleo Dunkle, who raised him as their own son.
He leaves to cherish his memories: brother, John Scott Dunkle and wife, Cheryl "Sheri" Greenawalt-Dunkle, Everett, PA; nephews, Shannon Dunkle and Zack Dunkle; 3 great nephews, and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
No local services are scheduled. Private interment: Jacksonville National Cemetery.
