Rachel Yvonne Bryant Lee, 74, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital. The daughter of Raymond Bryant, Sr. and Essie Mae (Studymine) Bryant, she was born on Sunday, October 9, 1949. Rachel was a 1967 graduate of Central Academy High School. She was employed with Hudson Pulp & Paper (now Georgia-Pacific) for 34 years. Rachel was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Trustee board and finance committee. She loved her church. Additionally, she enjoyed gardening and shopping - to keep up with the latest fashions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her twin brother, Raymond Bryant, Jr.; sister, Rosa Bryant; aunt, Elena Hopkins Hough.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Shonda Marie Walker (Clarence) Givens; devoted sister, Judy Ann Bryant Fuce; devoted niece/caregiver, Anita (John) McCullough; grandchildren, Kenneth E. Merritts, Chevelle D. Merritts, Clareshia A. Givens; "like a brother," Ray Michael Bess; sister-in-law, Lisa Cross Bryant; devoted cousins, Rosa H. Williams, Bobbie Hopkins, Wilbert "My My" Hough; goddaughter, Archavette (Charles) Word; nieces, Carolyn Brown, Telicia Evins, Marsha Thomas; nephews, Kenneth McCollough, Raymond Bryant III; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 17 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Rachel's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18 at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 North 9th Street, Palatka. Rachel's Pastor, Reverend James McGriff of Bethel A.M.E. Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
