Phyllis Wynester Smith, 53, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of Palatka, she was the daughter of Ruby Lee Taylor and Johnnie Smith, born on Friday, July 28, 1967. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated from Palatka High School, class of 1984. She subsequently earned a Bachelor's in Criminology. She was formerly employed as an Intervention Specialist at the Hastings Youth Academy. Phyllis faithfully served the Lord as a Minister at Deliverance by Grace Church and also served as a worship leader, youth director, usher and all other areas in ministry that she was needed to serve. She enjoyed singing, reading the Bible, solving word puzzles, walking in the park, going to the beach, and especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Loret Taylor; brother, Lorenzo Watts, Sr.; nephew, Antron Morris.
She leaves to cherish her memories: fiancé, Matthew Mack, Palatka; sons and daughter, Ruben (Ashley) Wright, Tucson, AZ; Bradley Leonard (Sameria Coley), Palatka; Ar'teshia Coley, Saraland, AL; Curtis Ford, Jr., Palatka; grandchildren, Aydin Coley, J'Averi Lowe, both of Saraland, AL; brother, Larry (Dora) Watts, Palatka; sisters, Lorine Taylor, Palatka; Bea-Trece DeLeon, Macon, GA ; nieces & nephews, Juanessa Watts, Desiree Taylor, Lorenza Watts Jr, Lenwell Watts, Larry Watts Jr., Josina Watts, Nora Watts, Ciera Milton, Mikia Colson, Mikeisha Colson; godchildren, Tamorian Taylor, Jahayzel Maldonado, both of Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4:30-6 p.m., Friday, June 18 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, June 19 at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 North 9th Street, Palatka. Pastor Aretha Foster, Deliverance by Grace, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
