Jr.
August 14, 1949 – September 12, 2021
Phillip "Phil" Turner, Jr., 72, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at AdventHealth, Palm Coast. Phil was born on August 14, 1949 in Macon Georgia, the only child to the union of Phillip Turner, Sr., and Mattie Lee (Barnes) Turner. Phil was educated in the Macon Georgia Public School system and graduated from Peter G. Appling High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended Macon Area Technical School and in 1969 received a Diploma in Electronics Technology.
In 1970, Phil relocated to Detroit, Michigan and furthered his education at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He completed his studies at Wayne State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983.
Phil began his career at General Motors as a Lead Electrical Component Validation Engineer for General Motors Midsize Luxury Vehicles until his retirement in 2005. He was especially proud to be a part of the Validation Team that validated the airbags for their midsize cars.
In 1971, Phil met and married Deborah Swan and they became the proud parents of two children, Kezia and Jonathan. In 1994, love entered his heart once again and he met his soul mate, a devoted and loving wife, Linda D. Dillard. In 1995, they were united in holy matrimony and fulfilled their vows for 26 years until his demise.
Phil accepted Christ at an early age. He was an active member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac, Michigan and served on the Usher Ministry. Phil and Linda relocated to Palm Coast, Florida in 2006. They joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast, where Pastor Edwin Coffie is the Pastor. Phil was a member of the Men's Ministry and Men's Sunday School. He enjoyed participating in the annual 'Journey to the Cross' presentation on Good Friday with the Simeon Tribe.
Phil loved spending time with his family, which included traveling, by land and sea. He enjoyed playing golf, and making golf clubs for his friends. Phil had many hobbies and interests, such as landscaping, computers, fishing for Big Mouth Bass, reading and setting up Home Theatre Systems.
Phil was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, Phillip, Sr., and Mattie Lee Turner.
Loving memories will be cherished by his wife, Linda D. Turner; daughter, Kezia Turner; son, Jonathan Turner; granddaughter, Elyse Turner; sisters-in-law, Deborah Dillard, Pamela Britton (Peter); and LaDonna Dean (Michael); nephews, Kordae Dillard (Genise), Charles Hill (Raishawn); niece, Brittany; great-nephew, Dametrius Dillard; special cousin, Joyce Tina Ryder (Marvin) and a host of extended Family and Friends who loved Phil and will forever hold fond memories of his life.
(Mandatory CDC guidelines for social distancing and masks required): Visitation of family and friends will be 10:30-11 a.m. with Celebration of Life commencing at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 2, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast. Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Detroit Memorial Park Cemetery East, Warren, MI.

Phil was a God-fearing man, a loving husband, a great father, and a good friend. He was a man of few words and could always make me laugh. I will miss my Gentle Giant!
