Obituary

Pauline P. Williams, 85, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Kindred Hospital North Florida in Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. A native of Palatka, Florida, she was the youngest of eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter G. (Mary Magdalene Hopkins) Williams, Sr., born on Thursday, March 12, 1925. In her early years, the family lived in Palatkas Ridgedale community and later they moved into the Williams family homestead inside of the City of Palatka at 809 North 12th Street. Pauline was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy High School, Class of 1946.) She was very talented and a gentle, compassionate homemaker who was also known for baking delightful cakes. Pauline along with her sister, Elizabeth Liz Gibson relocated to Hartford, CT to study nursing together. She was raised from an early age in the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and declining health restricted her activities. Although Pauline had no biological children she nurtured and cared for many nieces and nephews in the familys 12th street residence. In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in eternal rest by her siblings, Ethel Hampton, Bessie Sermons, Frank Williams, Sr., Claudia Fells, Elizabeth Gibson, George Mac Williams, Annie Mae Thomas, Emma Mae Lewis, Walter Gray Williams Jr., and Ralph Williams, Sr.,

To cherish her memories, devoted sister-in-law, Deloris Williams, Jacksonville; devoted nieces (caregivers) Mae Thelma Frazier, Rose Vickers, Karen Walker, and Joyce Hendrieth, all of Palatka; 1st cousins, Alice Mae (Lester) Epps-James, Palatka; Theetis Anderson, Plant City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 25, at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Rev. Anthony Q. Robinson Sr., Pastor.

A united Homegoing Celebration with her brother-in-law, Deacon Amos Sermons will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., is the eulogist. The cortege will assemble at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the Sermons family residence, 1012 Dunham Street, Palatka.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
