Obituary

Paul Floyd, 89, of St. Augustine, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care - Bailey Center, St. Augustine. The son of Manuel and Lillie Bell (Hill) Floyd, he was born on Thursday, November 10, 1932 in Jefferson County, Georgia. He was educated in the Jefferson County GA School District. Paul served as a Deacon and choir member at North City Missionary Baptist Church, St. Augustine. He was employed as a carpenter/municipal worker for the city of St. Augustine, and also as a maintenance man for St. Johns County School District and Flagler College. Paul was a passionate carpenter. His hobbies included fishing, singing, dancing, playing umpire for women's softball league, and having fun with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his first wife, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Powell Floyd; second wife, Deaconess Lucille Stewart Floyd; siblings, Adline Tarver, Victoria McGruder, Manuel Floyd, Jr., Rev. Booker T. Floyd, Sarah Murphy, William Floyd, Sr., Ora Byrd and Annie Lee Sherrod; close friend, Arletha Byrd Kearse.

He leaves to cherish his memories : 8 daughters, Pauline Garden, Arlie Victory, Barbara (Hugh) Floyd- Jensen, Paulette Brown, Joyce Floyd, Robin (Lawrence) Floyd-Douglas, Monica (Earl) Floyd-Cox, all of St. Augustine; Lillie Bell (Paul) Bell, Gainesville; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren ; sisters-in-law , Eula Green, Vivian Powell; brothers-in-law; Bobra Powell, Edward Powell; 2 godchildren, Queen Mosley and Elisa Hancock.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 25, at North City Missionary Baptist Church, 15 Bernard St., St. Augustine.  Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 26, at Anchor of Faith Church, 2121 US HWY 1 South Suite 28, St. Augustine. Pastor Emmauel Oliver, Sr., North City Missionary Baptist Church, St. Augustine, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, 945 Bruen Street, St. Augustine.
