Obituary

Paul James Burroughs, 77, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Haven Hospice Custead Care Center, Orange Park. The son of Edd James and Lena Mae (Jones) Burroughs, he was born on Monday, May 2, 1938 in Middleburg. Paul was educated in the Clay County Public School District and a graduate of Dunbar High School, Green Cove Springs. On March 18, 1959, Paul was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Annie Vivian Simmons. He was a longtime member of St. Mark Baptist Church, Middleburg. He was retired as a supervisor with Johns Manville and a Penske long-distance truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, swimming and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his wife, Annie Vivian Burroughs; son, Horace Simmons Wilson; siblings, Mary Solomon, Flora Thompson, Mammie Haymon, and Eddie Burroughs.

To cherish his memories : daughters , Janice (Leon) Fells, Angela (Joe) Lawson, Pauldwina Burroughs, all of Orange Park; son, Tareyan Burroughs, Cocoa; sisters , Annie Keyes, Orange Park; Pearlie Mae Milton, Maude Jackson, Lena Lewis, all of Middleburg; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Homegoing Celebration will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 20, at St. James A.M.E Church, 1324 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park. Reverend Alesia S. Ford-Burse, Pastor, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in the Forman Cemetery, Middleburg.
