Obituary

Patrick Leon Cure, 56, of Palm Coast, was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at AdventHealth Hospice Care at Stuart F. Meyer Center, Palm Coast.  The son of William A. Cure and Mary Rivers Cure, Patrick was born on Tuesday, June 11, 1963 in Hollywood, FL. He was educated in the Miami-Dade School District, attending Miami Park Elementary, Westview Middle School and was a 1981 graduate of Miami Central High School. A student of education and an advocate for justice, his early education paved a way for his political and scientific aspirations. He earned an associate degree from Miami-Dade College; continued his tenure in education by graduating from Florida International University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry; and earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Patrick was a teacher of science for numerous schools throughout Florida.

He was very active in the community with "5000 Role Models," which is a dropout prevention mentoring program committed to guiding minority male students. This partnership fueled his involvement in politics, which led him to pursue a political position, as a district commissioner. Although he didn't win the election, he was persistently involved in guiding the lives of others by inspiring them with the desire for change.

On March 23, 2013, Patrick married his friend and partner, Deborah Baker and they subsequently traveled the world and began several business ventures. Following his retirement from the Miami-Dade County Public School system, they relocated to Palm Coast, FL. Soon thereafter, Patrick joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast and became a faithful member, serving in various ministries, especially as security to the Pastor, with the Men's Ministry and singing in the Men's Choir.

Patrick possessed an amazing personality. He was an intense and strong individual exhibiting an unmatched zest for life. He never allowed the challenges he faced in his own life prevent him from helping others. He had a sincere love for his children which attributed to his drive and determination to succeed. He was a deeply passionate family man whom often demonstrated his commitment to them through phone calls or simply showing up unannounced. His father preceded him in eternal rest.
