Patrick Leverne Butch Copeland, 56, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 at Putnam Community Medical Center. The son of Laverne Copeland, he was a native of Bronx, New York, born Friday, June 6, 1952. Butch received his education in the Bronx, NY School District. He has been a resident of Putnam County for over 20 years, residing in Palatka and formerly Welaka. He was a woodcutter at the Bunnell Cypress Saw Mill in Palm Coast. He was a Deacon and former member of New Life Deliverance Center in Welaka, Pastor Edna Vickers. He loved children, enjoyed shopping and babysitting. Butch was an avid fisherman and handyman mechanic who could fix most anything. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents. To Cherish his memories, devoted wife, Maybell Session Copeland; daughters and sons, Carolyn Jones, Latesha Calloway, Valerie (Herman) Armstrong, Raymond Hampton, Jermaine Calloway, and Wallace Calloway; 4 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends including his adoptive family The Ellingtons. Visitation for family & friends will be from 5-8 pm, Thursday, May 14th at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 15th, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 804 Madison Street, Rev. Clarence Mallory Jr., Pastor. Rev Gregory Session, Associate Minister, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
