Pastor Dorothy J.
Moody
Mar 11, 1954 — Aug 31, 2026
Interlachen
Pastor Dorothy Jean Holcy Moody was born on March 11, 1954 to Frank J. Holcy, Jr. and Virginia (Epps) Holcy in Hawthorne, Florida. She was the third daughter born to the Holcy family consisting of six children. Unfortunately, her father transitioned from this life prior to her birth making it impossible for her to ever personally meet him. But because God is so wonderful and so great she was never without the love or support of a loving father because her mother met and married Deacon William Henry Harris, Sr. They became the proud parents of five more children. Deacon William Henry Harris, Sr. was a wonderful and loving father to all of their eleven children and numbered grandchildren. When Deacon Harris transitioned from this life on Pastor Moody’s birthday, March 11, 2000, the pain and void seemed almost unbearable for the family to endure. But because of Deacon and Mother Harris’ teaching and rearing of their children to always trust God in all things and remain strong and supportive of each other during trying times, the family persevered and moved forward.
Pastor Moody was educated in the Putnam County School System and was a graduate of Central Academy High School, Class of 1972. Pastor Moody continued her education by attending St. Johns River State College in Palatka.
In 1973, Pastor Moody was united in holy matrimony to Reginald Dewitt Moody and God blessed this marriage with two loving sons, Reginald “Blessed” Moody and Zaccheus “Ali” Moody. She is also the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren.
Pastor Moody accepted Christ and was saved in August, 1972 and later became a member of the Unity of God Deliverance Center (UGDC) under Pastor Mary L. Thomas where God established holiness and sanctification in her life. In 1988, Pastor Dorothy Jean Moody met another instrumental spiritual leader in her life, under the administration of S. D. James Evangelistic Association, Inc. and Evangelistic Pentecostal Churches Worldwide, Inc. (EPC), in the person of Dr. Kwaku Amofah Tenah. In 1989, Dr. Kwaku Tenah as Pastor and Dorothy J. Moody moved the Prayer Band Group which they instituted from her home to 808 North 15th Street in Palatka, Florida. Their Prayer Band became a full fledged church in 1992 and in 1993, God gave them the name of the church, Tree of Life EPC, because he was going to live unto his people. In 1997, the Lord ordained Pastor Dorothy J. Moody as Pastor of Tree of Life EPC, thus relieving Dr. Kwaku Tenah to be more involved in the office of Bishop. Pastor Dorothy J. Moody and the Tree of Life congregation located at 417 North 9th Street, Palatka, Florida were under the leadership of Apostle/Prophet S. D. James and Bishop K. A. Tenah. Pastor Moody’s hobbies include traveling, decorating, and enjoying spending time with her grandchildren.
Pastor Moody served on various committees within the EPC organization including President of the Women in White, the Senior Apostle/Bishop Prayer Warriors; 1 of 3 Vice Presidents of the S. D. James Evangelistic Association and the Evangelistic Pentecostal Churches (Worldwide), Inc. International Women Auxiliary; Pastor of the S. D. James Annual Circle of Prayer Conference; President of the S. D. James Circle of Prayer Conference; We Pray Always Global Prayer Team.
Pastor Moody was a woman who loved the Lord and believed that prayer could change things, could turn any negative into a positive. Pastor Moody, affectionately known as “Dot”, was never a woman to complain. She always saw the bright side of any situation. She loved and adored her family, always showing up wherever there was a crisis with that encouraging word of prayer or a shoulder to lean on. She always shared an encouraging word of prayer to see them through whatever hardship they were enduring. “Dot”, a woman always praying, smiling and being that force of strength when needed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by brothers; Johnny Holcy, Arthur Holcy, Tommy Holcy and William Harris, Jr.; sister, Doris Marie Holcy Young; grandmother, Mary Holcy; aunt, Lula Mae Ivey Peoples; father-in-law, Abraham Moody and mother-in-law, Lula Bell Moody.
