Ollie Smith St. Clair, 90, of Tallahassee (native of Federal Point) entered the sunset of life on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The daughter of Charlie and Juanita Smith, she was born on Saturday, October 1, 1932. She was the oldest of eight children. Ollie was a 1950 graduate of Hastings Vocational Training High School. She moved to Newark, NJ and began working as a Nursing Assistant. Once Ollie returned to Florida, she lived in Gainesville and was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Kevin W. Thorpe, Pastor. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Wallace Span, Sr. and Gillion "Sinky" St. Clair, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sons, Wallace Span, Jr., Brian Span; stepchildren, Jerome Monroe, Audrey Thomas; sisters, Elvera Mitchell, Shirley Sanders; brothers, Earnest Smith, Charles Smith; and brother-in-law, Thomas Mitchell.
To cherish her memories: sons and daughters , Regina (Larry Johnson) Span Couch, Tallahassee; Anthony Monroe, Ocala; Rosalina 'Rosalyn' (Franklin, Jr.) Monroe James, Raleigh, NC; 3 brothers , Warren Smith, Federal Point; Clifton Bernard (Carolyn) Smith, West Palm Beach; Seabron (Allyson) Smith, Lake Worth; brother-in-law , James Sanders, Riviera Beach; sister-in-law , Mamie Smith, White Springs; 7 grandchildren , Tysley, Rosalina, Jashawn, Jamilyah, Jamel, Yvonne, Yvette; goddaughter , Karon Childs; godsiblings , Goldie Kelly, Samuel Kelly; and a host of other relatives and friends including fishing buddy, Ida Bell Brown.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 20 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka. Rev. Kevin W. Thorpe, Pastor, Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment: 2 p.m., Sunday, January 22, Wilkerson Baptist Church Cemetery, 21424 Pocotaligo Rd, Early Branch, SC.
