Obituary

Noemi Fuentes Brubaker, 87, of Pomona Park, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Haven Hospice Robert's Care Center. Noemi known to most as "Tia" was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was born in Qriente, Cuba and in the mid 40's she followed her sister Carmen Erskine (the family's matriarch) to the United States. For 47 years, Noemi resided in Miami Beach. Her brother and sisters always stayed together. In 1969, Noemi joined Iglesia Metodista Unida Mission and became a Certified Missionary in 1982. Under the World Missions Inc., she traveled to Haiti, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Cuba to do missionary work. Due to declining health, she relocated to Pomona Park to be with her daughter, Carmen. Her family and friends was of most important to her and she lived her life with commitment and not only took care of her family but of others that needed care. For many years she volunteered her time not only to establish and work the food bank, but to feed the needy on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Though she always felt that she had more to do, she once said that her greatest accomplishment was to be able to do her missionary work. She was preceded in eternal rest by her mother, Mauricia Pelier; sons, James Turner and Sergio Fuentes. To cherish her memories, daughters Carmen (James Long) Patterson , Pomona Park; Elizabeth (Jay) Henry, Guam; Brother, Rene (Felina) Pelier, Miami Beach; Sisters,Milagro Pelier, Cuba; Eva Garcia, Miami Beach; grandsons, Joseph (Mitzy) Turner, Stuart, Brian Corbine, Boca Raton, Sergito Fuentes, Miami; great-grandsons, James Turner, Johann Turner, and Jonathan Corbine; and numerous nieces and nephews (too many to mention, but all that were a significant part of her life.)
