Obituary

Nettie Mae Potter, 88, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. A native of Vernon (Washington County) FL., she was born on Wednesday, October 22, 1924 to Frank Mairl and Johnnie Mae Richerson. She has been a resident of Putnam County for over 60 years, previously residing in Yelvington. She was united in holy matrimony to James Potter, Jr. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. Although she owned and operated "Nettie's Fashions" at the Ponderosa Flea Market in San Mateo, she enjoyed antique shopping and seeking bargains at thrift stores. She was a former member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, East Palatka. In addition to her parents and husband, Nettie was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Bridgette Potter Jackson; and sister, Annie Bell Richerson. Those who treasure her loving memories: daughters, Nellie Potter, Trenton, NJ; Renaye Potter Peterson, Palatka; Bobbie Jean (Joseph) Johnson, Ebro, FL; son, James Edward "Billy" Potter, East Palatka; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 7th at the "Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8th, at, the "Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Elder Willie A. Potter, pastor of Johnson Temple, Chipley, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery, East Palatka.
