Obituary

Deaconess Nazaree Bush Batts, 96, of Crescent City, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, August 19, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Pavo, Georgia, she was born on Tuesday, October 17, 1916 to Henry and Jessie Bell (Brinson) Bush. During her early childhood, her family moved to Crescent City where she attended Putnam County Public Schools. She was a retired homemaker, serving the Sharp and McKinnon families for many years. She was the widow of Deacon Dozier Batts. Mrs. Batts was a FL State-Certified foster parent for over 30 years. Deaconess Batts was a longtime member of the Crescent City House of God Church, serving over the years as a Deaconess and served in numerous ministries including: Youth Director of the choirs, Usher Board President, Program Coordinator and Hospitality. She enjoyed fishing, shopping, reading and meeting new people. For the past several years, she was a member and church mother of Victory Outreach Worship Center, Crescent City, Elder Moses Hawkins, pastor,and Apostle Lillie Tuggerson, General Overseer. In addition to her parents, Nazaree, was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Deacon Dozier Batts; son, Jacob Larry Bush; siblings, Rev. Ida Grant, Rev. Ruby Thompson, Deaconess Mae Atkins, Mattie Sharper, Emma Wilson, Jeremiah Bush, and Joseph Bush. Those who cherish her memories; daughters, Dorothy (Willie) Lee; Nicole (Vince) Oliver, LaTussa "Tasha" Batts, all of Crescent City; Jewel Tillman, Tifton, GA; sisters, Nellie Horne, Trenton, NJ; Jessie Mae (Joseph) Ledbetter, Crescent City; stepchildren, Mary Batts, Atlanta, GA; Odessa Bradley and Ida Wilson, both of Miami; David (Delores) Batts, Kingsley, GA; Larry Batts, Sr., Jacksonville; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren Visitation of family and friends will be 6 - 8 pm Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Crescent City House of God Church, 1020 Clemons Lane. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 24 at True Foundation Ministries, 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Bishop Charles E. Campbell, of Rochester, NY is the eulogist and Rev. Dr. Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., presiding. The cortege will assemble at 12:30 pm at the Crescent City Women's Civic Association. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
