Nayana Shanae "Poka" Thomas, 3, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, December 29, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Daytona Beach to Chester Thomas and Ashley Monts Thomas. "Poka" always enjoyed playing with her brothers, sisters, and cousins outside. Nayana especially loved spending time with her mother: "when you saw Ashley, Nayana was right by her side." She also enjoyed dancing, singing, and riding her 4-wheeler. "Takis" was Nayana's favorite brand of chips that she really enjoyed. Nayana was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal great grandparents, Gussie Mae and Bobbie Lee Monts; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Brown-Monts. Nayana leaves to cherish her legacy of love: devoted mother and father, Chester Thomas & Ashley Monts Thomas, Crescent City; maternal grandfather, Calvin C. Monts, Crescent City; paternal grandparents, Linda (David) Johnson, Crescent City; sisters, Ron'neisha Thomas, Nykieah Thomas, Raja'ne Thomas, Aveonna Thomas, Crescent City; brothers, Robert Wilson, RonTrell Thomas, Crescent City; uncles, Bobbie Monts, Derric Monts, Calvin Monts, Jr., Calvin (Amy) Martin, Richard Hardy, David Johnson; aunts, Falicia Monts, Tanjala Gillon, Dominique Williams, Dana Hewitt; "like an uncle" Anthony "Amp" Clark; and a host of devoted cousins and other relatives. Visitation of family and friends will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, January 9 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" and 1-3 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 1835 Barton Street, Seville, Florida. Homegoing Celebration will be 3 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at St. John Baptist Church, Reverend James E. Vickers, Pastor, is the Eulogist. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Seville, Florida.
