Nathaniel Lee "Nate" Thompson, IV, 19, of Palatka, transitioned on Monday, December 18, 2017 (one week before his 20th birthday). A native of Daytona Beach, he was born on Thursday, December 25, 1997 to Nathaniel Thompson, III and Cheryl Yvette Appling. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. He attended the Tree of Life Evangelical Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed swimming, visiting the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
"Nate" was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal great-grandmother, Rosa B. Lane; paternal great-grandmother, Daisy B. Boyd; paternal great-grandfathers, Nathaniel Thompson, I and Joe Boyd; maternal grandfather, Billy Appling, Sr.; paternal grandfather, Nathaniel Thompson, II; maternal great-uncle, Joseph Lane; paternal uncle and aunt, David Boyd and Doretha Boyd.
He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Cheryl Y. Appling (Eddie Bernard Lofton); father, Nathaniel Thompson, III; brothers, Michael Appling, Chaques S. Belton, Emmanuel T. Thompson, Elijah R. Thompson; sisters, Chandricka D. Hawkins, Nature A. Thompson; maternal grandmother, Priscilla Appling; paternal grandmother, Bertha Napier; aunts and uncles, Tiffany (Sherman) Williams, Michelle Curry, Sylvia (Jonathan) Warren, Sean Thompson, Cynthia Appling, Rosa (Robert) Banks, Billy (Carol) Appling, Jr., Terri (Thomas) Joyner, Reginald Appling, Priana Appling, Debra (Reuben) Patterson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 29 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." A Celebration of Nate's Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 30 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Elder David E. Richardson, Pastor of Temple of Praise Restoration Outreach Center (TOPROC) Church of God in Christ, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, San Mateo.
