Obituary

Nathaniel "Nate" Tensley, 65, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he was the son of Mary Lou Nelson and Walter Tensley, Sr., born on Thursday, May 19, 1949. He was a 1968 graduate of Central Academy High School. He was formerly employed at Putnam Community Medical Center and subsequently as a pipe fitter and maintenance driver at Price Brothers, Inc. (1980-2012). Nate truly loved his church and pastor as he worshipped the Lord at God's Manna Ministries of Palatka under the leadership of Pastor Sheila J. McCoy. While being an avid sports fan, Facebook quickly became his favorite past-time. Nate was also lovingly called "Old Skool-G" and was known for wearing good-smelling cologne and well-coordinated clothes. In addition to his mother, Nate is preceded in eternal rest by maternal grandparents, Frank (Charity) Nelson, Sr., aunts and uncles, Ernestine Dennenter, Juanita Barton, Rita Smith, Patricia Ann Tensley, Frank Nelson, Jr., Michael Tensley, and Porlie Tensley. Answering God's call, Nate leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Diamond Green, Palatka, father, Walter Tensley, Sr., Indian Lakes Estates, FL., brother, Walter (Margaret) Tensley, Jr., Indian Lakes Estates; sisters, Gwendolyn (Danny) Mack, Polk City; Yolanda (Keith) Johnson, Lake Alfred; nieces, Tamika Tensley, Orlando; Tonya Tensley, Haines City; nephews, Timothy Tensley, Bolling Green; Terrence Tensley, Indian Lakes Estates; aunt, Mattie Lee (Robert) Davis, Palatka; like a father, Wesley Lowery, Palatka, like a sister, Shirley Eubanks, Palatka; special friend, Louise Willis, Daytona; his daughter's mother, Brenda "Yoni" Rayne-Anderson, Palatka; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation of Family and Friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, October 31, and Nate's Life Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 1, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" 2400 Madison Street, Palatka, Pastor Sheila J. McCoy, of God's Manna Ministries, officiating.
