Nathaniel Brooks, III, 63, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his residence. A native of Jacksonville, he was born on Friday, October 2, 1953 to Nathaniel Brooks, II and Delores Proctor. He was educated in the Duval County School District. In 1974, Nathaniel enlisted into the United States Marines Corps. During his military service, he received numerous medals including: M16A1 Rifle sharpshooter badge, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal & National Defense Service Medal upon being honorably discharged. He was previously employed with North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC) and Seminole Electric Corporation.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Carlos Lipford; sister, Joan Garrett.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Nathaniel Brooks, IV, Palatka; Rameses Brooks, Osiris Brooks; six grandchildren; former wife and mother of his children, Rose McGee Brooks, Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
