Nathan Leon Simpson, 59, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Haven Hospice, Custead Care Center, Orange Park. The son of Nathaniel Eli and Arsulia (Strozier) Simpson, he was born on Tuesday, October 13, 1959 in Douglas, GA. He has been a resident of Orange Park for 50 years. "Leon" was a 1978 graduate of Orange Park High School. He was employed as an environmental services tech serving several local nursing homes. Thereafter, he became a caregiver for his mother, "Sue." In his early years, Leon was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Orange Park. In addition to his father, he was preceded in eternal rest by his sister, Linda Strozier Jefferson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Varden Blank (LaQuandra Williams), Orange Park; daughter, Porshe (Leon) Rogers, Jacksonville; devoted mother and stepfather, Arsulia "Sue" and Eldge Jackson, Orange Park; sister, Brenda (Walter) Brown, Orange Park; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 23 and Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m., Saturday, August 24 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Mound Street, Orange Park. Reverend C. Edward Preston, pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park.
