April 25, 1941 – September 27, 2011
Myron Stuart Stu Ivins, 70, of Interlachen, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his residence. A native of Neptune, New Jersey, he was born on Friday, April 25, 1941 to Myron and Gladys (Keefer) Ivins. Myron was a U.S. Navy veteran with 30 years of meritorious service to our great nation. He attained the rank of Aviation Machinists Mate First Class and his commendations include: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, numerous good conduct medals. He was also a retired truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. Following his military retirement, he maintained his commitment to his community. He has resided in Interlachen since 1989 moving from the Jacksonville-Orange Park area. He proudly served as Chief Engineer with the Interlachen Lake Estates (units 16-17) Putnam County Station 17 Volunteer Fire Department.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sons and daughters, Dulcey Gavilanes, Bear, Delaware; Timothy Tim Ivins, Interlachen; Georgette Mullen, James Ivins, & John Ivins, all of New Jersey; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, especially Station 17.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 9, at Putnam County Station 17 Volunteer Fire Department, 217 Kennedy Avenue, Interlachen, Chaplain Mark Fletcher, officiating.
