Mozell Ellis, 66, Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center, Orange Park, following an extended illness. He was born on Monday, March 23, 1942 to Colee Ellis and Rosa Lee Goodman Ellis in Fairbanks, FL and was a longtime Palatka resident. Mozell left home at an early age to become a Merchant Seaman where he was able to work as a Master Chef and travel around the world. In the early 70s, Mozell came back home to Palatka. He was a former member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. His hobbies included drawing and he was a great chef. Children in the community would enjoy watching him draw pictures of them. He is preceded in eternal rest by his parents and aunt, Jessie Russ. (His mother preceded him in eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2008.) He leaves to cherish his memories; brother, Alphonso (Robin) Russ, Fresno, CA; stepsister; Vera Nelson, Welaka; uncle; Girley (Naomi) Goodman Jr., Jacksonville; aunt, Emma Mack, Sanford; and a host of other nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, August 29, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. A Joint Homegoing Celebration with his mother (Rosa Lee Goodman Ellis) will be Saturday, August 30, at 2 P.M. at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1501 Bronson St., Palatka, Elder J.C. Tookes, Pastor/Eulogist.
