Monroe "Money" Ashe, Sr., 74, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. The son of Reverend Robert Ashe and Rosa Bell (Dowdell) Ashe, he was born on Monday, August 30, 1948 in Albany, New York. Monroe was educated in the Putnam County School District and attended Middleton High School. He later moved to New Jersey where he worked for 30+ years with the Princeton Housing Authority. After leaving New Jersey, Monroe relocated back home to Crescent City, Florida. He was employed at the Quality Inn in Palatka, until his health precluded him. To know him was to love him!

In addition to his parents, Monroe was preceded in eternal rest by his daughters, VanVoris Clemmons and Shirley Ashe; brother, Freddie Ashe; nephews, Treceako Ashe, Maurice Ashe, and Stacy Cook.

Monroe "Money" Ashe Sr. leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Monroe (Leonie) Ashe, Jr., Jermaine (Ariel) Ashe; daughters, Erica (BJ) Lawrence, Shaniece (Bob) Hodge; siblings, John (Debbie) Ashe, Rev. Robert Ashe, Doris Harris, Grant Ashe, Rosetta Cook, Carolyn (Robbie) McPherson, Alfred Ashe, Stephanie Ashe; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, including a special friend, Cindy Johns.

A memorial service in Monroe's honor will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Quality Inn Conference Room, 201 North 1st Street, Palatka, Florida.
