Misako Martin, 68, of Bostwick, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Haven Hospice-Roberts Care Center, Palatka. A native of Ibaraki, Japan, she was the daughter of Kuranosukq and Mieako (Ootuki) Terakado, born on Friday, March 15, 1946. In 1972, Misako met her future husband, Marvin on a blind date and they subsequently united in marriage on Thursday, June 6, 1974 in Tokyo. They relocated to Okinawa and remained there until August, 1978. Due to Marvin's deployment, they resided in numerous places over the years, including Orange Park; Bostwick, FL; Brunswick, Maine, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In 1986, Misako was employed as a secretary for NADEP-NAS in Jacksonville. In 2005, she was employed at the Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay. In 2008, she retired from the Civil Service. Following Marvin's retirement, they returned back to the St. Johns River in Bostwick. She spent her spare time collecting shells and working in the yard. Ultimately, Misako and Marvin enjoyed traveling together. She was passionate about playing the guitar and piano for Marvin while he napped in his recliner. Aside from that, she very much enjoyed playing Bingo at the V.F.W. Post and the Palatka Moose Lodge; going to the Casino in Biloxi and actively participating in the Knitting and Music Clubs at the Bostwick Community Center. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in eternal rest. Misako leaves to cherish her precious memories: devoted husband of 40 years, Marvin Martin, Bostwick; two sons, Michael (Vanisha) Martin, St. Augustine; James Martin, Orange Park; two grandsons, Daniel & Jeremy Martin, Orange Park; two sisters, Aiko(Toshio) Yoshinaga, Orange Park; Hisako Terakado, Japan; two brothers, Mizuo Terakado and Yoshimo Terakado, both of Japan; a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison Street, Palatka, FL, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, officiating.
