Mother Minnie Lee McCall, 90, of Palatka, peacefully responded to her Lord and Savior's call on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of Surrency (Appling County), Georgia, she was born on Monday, December 29, 1924 to Will & Wilma (Pounds) Vaughns. Minnie was educated in the Appling County, GA., School District. Minnie and her beloved husband, Deacon Herbert McCall honored their sacred marital vows for over 50 years. Minnie was a longtime farm labor contractor and subsequently a chef cook for seven years at a Senior Center in St. Augustine. Mother McCall, as she was affectionately known, was a devoted and loyal member who served the Lord faithfully at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, where she served in the Deaconess Ministry, Senior Ministry, and sang in the former Senior Choir. She was a former member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church (Spuds) and Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. As a servant leader in the community, she touched many lives in a positive way and shared her unconditionally love with everyone she encountered. "Mother" is already truly missed and cherished by her family, friends, church family, and ministerial co-laborers. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mother McCall was preceded in eternal rest by her: son, PFO Marine Frank J. Roberts; daughters, Mattie Bell Roberts and Ida Mae Donald; brothers, Charlie, Clifford, Jimmie Lee, and Sing Vaughns; sisters, Hattie Howard, Mattie Hall, Ida B. McMorris, Queeneva Roberts, and Essie Mae Young. She leaves to cherish her memories: two devoted daughters, Wilma (David) Wesley, Palatka; Marie (Eugene) Heath, Jacksonville; nieces, Cordelia Foster, Baxley, GA., Sweetie Mae Brown, Brunswick, GA., Darletha (Elder Jimmie) Lewis, Hastings; nephew, William McMorris, Baxley, GA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, January 23, at her beloved church "Mount Tabor." Homegoing Celebration will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 24 at Mount Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
