Deacon Milton Cooledge McQueen, 92, of Palm Coast, transitioned to Glory on Saturday, February 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at his daughter's residence, Atlanta, GA. The son of John McQueen and Caroline McQueen he was born on Tuesday, April 21, 1925 in New York City. He was reared in Waycross, NC and later moved back to New York City. Shortly thereafter, he met and married Darthula Favors. The couple lived in Harlem for a number of years before settling in the Bronx. They were the loving and blessed parents of four children, a daughter and three sons. After the transition of his beloved wife in 2015, Deacon McQueen relocated to Atlanta, GA to reside with his daughter, Iris.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in eternal rest by his son, Milton "Rafiq" McQueen, Jr.; son, Anthony McQueen Sr.; son, Michael Megachin McQueen; sister, Elizabeth Drakeford.
He leaves to cherish his memories: dutiful and devoted daughter, Iris Amaker (French Mcquiller), Atlanta, GA; beloved son, Larry (Cheryl) McQueen, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Nicole Thatch, Atlanta, GA; Anthony McQueen, Jr., Diamond McQueen, both of Raleigh, NC; daughters-in-law, Theresa McQueen Raleigh, NC and Bert McQueen, Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Dr. Jerri Robinson, Norwalk, CT; niece, Carol Timus, Palm Coast; "adopted daughter", Velma Lewis, Shreveport, LA; "adopted son", Louis Brooks, New York City, NY; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
Visitation of family and friends: 9-11 a.m., Friday, February 9 at Mt. Calvary. Palm Coast Homegoing Celebration: 11 a.m., Friday, February 9 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast. Interment: Craig-Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.
