Mildred Christina Bartley, 84, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka. The daughter of Matthew and Arabella (Williams) Mackey, she was a native of Jacksonville, born on Friday, February 1, 1935. She was educated in the Clay County School District at Matthew Gilbert High School, Class of 1954. Mildred was a member of Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Rev. Michael McKay, Pastor, where she served on the usher board. She loved cooking, helping others and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her daughters, Mattie Bartley Givens and Shirley Bartley; grandsons, Marcus Givens and Jermaine Bartley.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Brenda Bartley, Baltimore, MA; Tara Bartley, Jacksonville; Linda (Sonny) McCoy, Palatka, sons, Curtis (Sandra) Bartley, Sr., Orlando; Willie (Eva) Bartley, Jr., Gainesville; Joseph Bartley, William (Joanne) Bartley, Roderick (Bernice) Bartley, all of Palatka; Preston (Norma) Bartley, East Palatka; Rev. Richard (Quinetta) Bartley, Sr., Nashville, TN; Terrance (Deon) Bartley, West Virginia, VA; close friend, Abby Swinson, Palatka; 18 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nadine Rogers. Marcil Whitaker, both of Jacksonville; Patricia (Anthony) Pryor, Augusta, GA; three brothers, Richard (Valdora) Washington, Jacksonville; James (Cora) Davis, Melbourne; Alfred Davis, Ft. Lauderdale; aunt, Louise (John) Frazier, and other caring relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 3-6 p.m., Saturday, November 2, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 3, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
