Mildra's Memories, Milestones and Ministry

Mildra Burch Jackson, a beloved mother figure, sister, devoted nurse, and faithful servant of God, was born on January 1, 1938, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late Charlie and Ella Mae (Butts) Burch. She peacefully transitioned on January 24, 2026, at AdventHealth Palm Coast Hospital.

Mildra resided in Palm Coast, Florida, and was a longtime resident of Pomona Park, a place she proudly called home for many years.She received her early education at Pomona Park Elementary School and graduated from Central Academy High School. Mildra continued her academic pursuits at Seton Hall University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, preparing her for a lifelong career dedicated to service, healing, and compassion.

A devoted Baptist, Mildra was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, located at 75 Pine Lakes Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida. She actively served in the church's Health Ministry, demonstrating her deep commitment to caring for others both spiritually and physically.

Mildra dedicated many years to nursing and education. Her professional career included seven years as a school nurse in East Orange and Newark, New Jersey; ten years in home health care nursing; and ten years of service at George C. Miller, Jr. Intermediate School. Through her work, she touched countless lives with kindness, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Mildra was also actively involved in the African American Cultural Society, where she embraced culture, fellowship, and community engagement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Burch and Ella Mae (Butts) Burch; her brothers, Charlie Burch, Jr., Richard Burch, and Stephen Burch; her sisters, Juanita Burch Kinard and Catherine Burch Burton; nieces, Cynthia Burch and Cynthia Mimage and nephews,  Kirk Burton.

Cherished memories of Mildra remain with her namesake, Mildra (Corey) Walker of Palm Coast, FL who was like a daughter and  Micheal Mimiage of Satsuma, FL who was like a son; Nevaeh Walker, who was like a granddaughter and Corey Walker, Jr., who was like a grandson; brother, Aaron Burch Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Edna Cleo Burch Mimiage, Satsuma, Florida; her loving nieces, Clema Burch of Columbus, Georgia; Priscilla Campbell of Ormond Beach, Florida; Brenda (Jason) Lang of East Palatka, FL; Shirley Burch, Michele Henderson, Angela Burch, Lisa Burch and Aanrria Lavigne all of Cleveland, OH; and Beverly Burton of New Jersey; nephews, Robert (Pat) Johnson and Levon Johnson of Palatka, FL;  Charles (Wanda) Mimage, Satsuma, FL; Reggie Burton, Eric Burch, and Steven Burch, Jr., all of Cleveland, OH. She is also survived by her beloved goddaughter, Dr. Ashley (Ruben) Wright, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 6 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" and 1-2 p.m., Saturday, February 7 at Mt. Calvary. Celebration of Mildra's Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 7 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast. Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City.
