Obituary

Michael Lamar Tripp, 44, of Altoona, PA., (former resident of Dover, DE) entered the sunset of life on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Altoona. The son of Dora Mae Marlow Tripp and George Tripp, Jr., he was a native of Palatka, FL., born on Monday, January 21, 1974. Michael was a 1992 graduate of Palatka High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army. Michael was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle before earning an honorable discharge. At the age of 12, he was baptized at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and from age 14 until joining the military, he was a member of Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, Palatka. While in Titusville, he attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Titusville. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and traveling. He was preceded in eternal rest by his grandparents, John Henry Marlow and Ada Marlow; George Tripp, Sr., and Hattie Lee Tripp.

He leaves to cherish his memories: mother and stepfather, Dora and Edward Charles Henry, Titusville; father, George Tripp, Jr., New York City; brother, Jeremiah Simmons, Titusville; sisters, Phyllis Ann Tripp, Marlena Rains, Melinda Harvey, all of Titusville; half-sisters, Tonya Tripp, Gainesville; Lavonda Tripp, Palatka; aunts and uncles, Dorothy Tripp, Wallace Tripp, Roy Tripp, all of Palatka; Jessie Collins, Aretha Marlow, Roger Marlow, all of Titusville; Henry Marlow, Gainesville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Michael's Life with Military Honors will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 14 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Pastor Nathan McMurray, The Hand of God Outreach Ministries, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Committal will be scheduled later at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
