Mavis Lucille Lewis, 87, of Palm Coast, transitioned on Saturday, July 22, 2017. The daughter of James and Lucy Grant, she was a native of Rocky Mountain, NC. She was educated in the Nash-Rocky Mount Public School District. She resided in Brooklyn, NY for years and in 1998 moved to Palm Coast. She was employed at Kings County Hospital until she retirement in 1970 and worked private duty throughout Long Island. On April 11, 1952, Mavis was united in holy matrimony to William Crawford Lewis, Sr. She was a former member and usher of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freeport, L.I., NY., and First A.M.E. Church of Palm Coast. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast, under the leadership of Pastor Edwin Coffie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mavis was preceded in eternal rest by her brother, James "Jimmy" Grant, Jr.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 9-11 a.m., Thursday and Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast. Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor, is the eulogist.
