IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
Walker Lewis
January 20, 1959 – December 15, 2021
Mary Walker Lewis, 62, of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Haven Hospice, Custead Care Center, Orange Park. A native of Palatka, she was the daughter of Arliss C. Walker, Sr. and Mildred R. (Hankins) Walker, born on Tuesday, January 20, 1959. Mary was a 1977 graduate of Palatka Central High School and continued her pursuit of education by earning certifications in Culinary Arts (St. Augustine) and Computer Technology (Tampa). In her early years, she was a member of the former Temple of God Miracle Deliverance Center (now To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, Palatka). Mary acknowledged the Apostolic calling upon her life and served in numerous ministries over the years in Palatka, Valdosta, GA., and Jacksonville. She was the former Pastor-Overseer of the Highways and Hedges Ministry, Valdosta, GA. She was a homemaker who was very skilled in her hair-braiding craft (the 2 nd African-American licensed female in Putnam County). She was very talented and enjoyed rainy days, playing the keyboard, singing and writing songs, writing poetry, and helping others in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Minister Donald David Lewis (April 27, 2020); sisters, Cynthia Walker Edwards, Marion Walker and Carliss Walker Bryant.
She leaves to cherish her memories: adopted daughter, Crystal Bryant (Elisheva Rabin); brother, Arliss C. (Connie Faye) Walker, Jr.; Joseph D. (Johnnetta) Walker; sisters, Kathy (John) Walker Harris, Pamela (Gerald) Walker Conley, Pamela (Lorenzo) Love Smith; goddaughter, Omega Foster Milton, uncle, Nathaniel Hankins; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 and Homegoing Celebration commencing at 11 a.m., at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Apostle Cora B. Fells, Senior Pastor, Grace & Truth Deliverance Ministries, is the eulogist.
