Mary Lee McQueen Smith, 76, of Hollister, transitioned and entered into the sunset of life on Friday, January 11th,, at Haven Hospice of the Lakes-Roberts Care Center, Palatka following a brief illness. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, she was born December 22, 1931. She was educated in the Montgomery County Alabama School District. She was united in holy matrimony to Olly Smith in Besemer, Alabama. She was a resident of Hempstead, New York for over 45 years, moving to Hollister four years ago. She was a retired 20-year housekeeper at the Holly Patterson Nursing Home and a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Hempstead, New York. She was a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. She enjoyed sports and her favorite team was the New York Mets. Mary is preceded in eternal rest by her mother, Charlie Mae McQueen; husband, Olly Smith; and daughter, Ollie Staton. To Cherish her memories: devoted daughter and son-in-law, Wilma & John Bush, Hollister; beloved grandchildren, Dollicia (Darren) Green, Interlachen; Eric (Antonia) Staton, Hempstead, NY., Shantae (Dwight) Gilmer, Tampa; Shanae Emanuel, Atlanta, GA., Keri (Mario) Jackson, Brooksville, FL., and Jason Bush, New York City; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, January 18th from 5-8PM at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, January 19th, 10 a.m. at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
