Obituary

Martha Julius, 87, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Grand Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Palm Coast. The daughter of Joseph and Emma Barnes, she was a native of Peekskill, New York, born on Thursday, August 4, 1927. The last of 6 children, she attended public school in Queens, N.Y. and subsequently became a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Co. Later, she worked as receptionist and telephone operator in the private sector. Martha met the love of her life at the age of 17 years old, Vincent Walton Julius, whom she united in marriage on February 19, 1950, following his return from active military duties. After a season of employment, she retired and cared for her only beloved son, Walton Terrence Julius, who preceded her in eternal rest on January 18, 2003. Martha was an excellent companion to her husband, Vincent - and really loved to go sailing with him on "Red Martha," their sailboat. She was a pillar of support to Vincent, a retired firefighter, who was very active with the firefighter's organization, "The International Association of Black Professional Firefighters." Martha always had a smile on her face; she loved to dance, enjoy herself, and have plenty of fun. Martha will be remembered as a loving, caring woman. She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 65 years; one sister, Doris of Palm Coast; 2 grandchildren: Silver Rene and Vincent Rashard; great-granddaughter, Lisa Rochelle Julius; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 and the Celebration of Martha's Life will be held at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast, Pastor Edwin Coffie, is the Eulogist.
