IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark A.
Brown, Sr.
June 19, 1962 – July 6, 2024
Mark Anthony Brown, Sr., 62, a dedicated husband, father, and servant of the community, transitioned on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, Palatka, with his loving wife of 28 years, Dara Brown, by his side. The son of Eddie and Alma Brown, Mark was born on Tuesday, June 19, 1962, in Palatka. Mark led a life of service, beginning with his honorable discharge from the Army Reserves, where he served from 1984 to 1990. He then dedicated himself to caring for adults with developmental disabilities, empowering them to achieve independence. He worked for the ARC and later established his successful business, Brown's Support and Services, in 2001.
A man of many talents and interests, Mark enjoyed playing guitar, pickleball, boating, riding his motorcycle, grilling, and tinkering in the yard. He cherished spending time with his family and was often seen attending his children's sporting events. Mark's love for his family extended to mentoring and coaching his children's athletic activities.
Mark was a former, longtime member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member, Deacon, and director of the Mass Choir. He later converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he continued his service as a member of the High Council and a Sunday School teacher.
Mark was reunited in heaven with his parents, Eddie and Alma Brown, his infant son Mark Brown Jr., his mother-in-law Sondra Cornett, brothers-in-law Daniel and Dana Pearson, and nephews Cary and Cameron Neptune, among other beloved friends and consumers he considered family.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dara K. (Pearson) Brown, and their children Keondra Brown (Tate Green), Stacy Brown, Marchele Rollins (Trell), Brock Gibson (Donielle), Aniya Brown, Mackenzie Brown, and Mark Brown II. Mark also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Keazia, Parys and Brianna Bass, Antoine and Jayon Clark, Londyn and Ke'Mari Hines, Ashlyn and Ashton Rollins, Paizlee Rea-Gibson, Madyline Gibson, Braxton and Braylon Gibson, and great-grandchild Trust Martin. He is survived by his sisters Thressa Brown Lewis and Terri Dallas (Wade), and brother Henry Bell (Dorothy), as well as his dearest cousin John Thornton (Linda).
Mark's compassion, love, and dedication to serving others will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him, including his extended family and friends. His legacy of selflessness will continue to inspire and impact those he touched throughout his lifetime.
Celebration of Mark's Life will be 12 noon, Saturday, July 13 (with visitation one hour prior) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1414 Husson Avenue, Palatka. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
