IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie Lewis
Kelly
August 27, 1937 – December 23, 2023
Mother Marjorie Lewis Kelly, 86, of Crescent City, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Joseph "Doc" and Corinne Green, Marjorie was born on Friday, August 27,1937. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1956 graduate of Central Academy. Following graduation, she moved to Daytona Beach for a brief period of time. After returning home, she was employed by the Putnam County School District in Food Services. She also worked as a machine operator for 7 years at L & W Wood Products. It was during that time she was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie "Buddy" Kelly.
She later began working for Volusia County School District at T. DeWitt Taylor Middle - High School in Pierson as a Campus Advisor. During her employment, she became a mentor, confidant, mother-figure and friend to many of the students, faculty and staff members. Among the student body she was affectionately called, "Inch-High Private Eye" because she monitored the halls and campus grounds with an authoritative presence. She provided 43 years of meritorious service, and retired in 2016.
Mother Kelly was a woman of great faith. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Crescent City under the Pastoral Leadership of Rev. Michael Robinson. She served as the Church Mother, Deaconess Board, President, Youth Director and Choir Member. Mother Kelly was passionate about many things but her greatest passion was Motherhood. She believed being a mother was her God given assignment. She lovingly fulfilled the role as a mother for many. She adopted many sons and daughters and loved unconditionally.
